Medo Art & Mondial Research e.U. is an art and research organization focused on contemporary art and culture. We organize art exhibitions, thematic forums, research projects, and residency programs. Our focus is on contemporary Asia/Europe-specific social realities and local contexts. Medo is an alternative art space and academic research institution run cooperatively by artists, curators, researchers, and other cross-disciplinary professionals.
Medo is located in the heart of Vienna’s cultural and artistic district, boasting both an exhibition space and artist’s residence. Medo is committed to the development and maintenance of collaborative networks between art spaces and research institutions, both to discuss ongoing issues in contemporary art and culture and to promote dialogue between Europe and Asia through cooperation on residential projects, exhibitions, and joint research.
Medo Art & Mondial Research e.U. steht für „Mekong-Donau-Kulturraum”. Wir organisieren Ausstellungen, Symposien, Forschungsprojekte und Artist residencies. Ein Fokus liegt auf Projekten, die die Verbindung zwischen Ländern Asiens und Europas stärken. Künstleraustausch zwischen beiden Regionen und Forschungsvorhaben zu zeitgenössischer Kunst im Dialog zwischen Europa und Asien stehen dabei im Mittelpunkt. Dadurch versuchen wir auch, eine Plattform zu schaffen, die einen Fokus auf spezifische, lokale Lebensrealitäten inmitten globalisierter Dynamiken richtet. Die übernationale, Grenzen überwindende Tätigkeit von MEDO versteht sich auch als Beschwörung eines Gegenmodells zu altem und neuem Nationalismus und Imperialismus.
Von 2017 bis 2019 war das MEDO als Kunstraum zunächst im Kunst- und Kulturviertel Franzensgasse zu finden. Seit 2019 bespielen wir (in Kooperation mit toZomia) großzügige Räumlichkeiten im neu geschaffenen Teil des Sonnwendviertels.
美多艺术空间暨蒙迪亚研究中心（Medo Art & Mondial Research e.U.）是一所以“当代亚洲艺术与文化”为重点的替代艺术空间暨智库型独立研究机构，以艺术展览、文化艺术节、主题论坛、独立研究项目，艺术家驻地为运作基础，强调当代亚洲具体的社会现实和现场语境。是一所由艺术家，策展人，研究者等跨领域专业人士共同运营的独立艺术空间和学术研究机构。
Medo地理空间上位于奥地利维也纳文化艺术核心区域，功能上兼有展览、文化活动和艺术家工作室等空间场所。MAMR致力于持续地同其它艺术空间和研究机构建立合作网络，针对当代艺术和社会现存的问题展开持续讨论，另外通过驻留项目和展览项目推动欧洲与亚洲在当代艺术和文化领域的深度交流。
